Inflatable Spa Accessories

When you buy your inflatable hot tub, it 's ready to go straight out of the box. Apart from a few chemicals to sanitize the water and keep it clean and hygienic, you definitely don 't need to buy anything else to have a great time. What we found, though, during our first season with our very first inflatable hot tub, is that it quickly became a centrepiece of our backyard. We used it more and more, and it became both a sanctuary and a place for fun.

That 's why we recommend a few accessories, to make the hot tub and our experience in it even better.

Cup Holder and Tray

It 's important to stay hydrated when you 're using your portable spa. When we first bought our inflatable hot tub, we used a garden table alongside the hot tub to store a couple of drinks, as well as the hot tub remote control, sunglasses, and any other small items we had with us. But this meant we had to stand up and either lean over or get out of the hot tub every time to reach them.

Top Tip: Remove the cup holder and tray before you put the cover on your inflatable hot tub. It clips on and off very easily, and it folds up so you can store it away conveniently. The tray also floats, so you can put it into the hot tub and then put the cover on if you prefer.

Non-Slip Spa Step

Our inflatable hot tub is 28 inches high. I 'm a couple of inches over 6 feet tall, so I can clamber over the side and get into - and out of - the hot tub with no real problem. These steps are super-sturdy, with a maximum load-bearing weight of 350 lbs. They 're also completely non-slip, even when they 're wet; they 're made from 100% waterproof materials; and they have UV inhibitors in the plastic so they won 't ever fade.

Top Tip: It can be difficult to assemble the steps if you follow the manufacturer 's instructions. Threfore the best way to put them together is this:

1. Stand the two side pieces about 3 feet apart. Pick the appropriate step according to the shape of your hot tub - either the curved one or the straight one. This will be the top step and the other will be the lower step.
2. Take the lower step and slightly lift the front of it, and place the back two sides into the slots on top of the side pieces.
3. Now step firmly on the front of the step to click it into place. You might need to push down with all your weight.
4. Repeat the same procedure for the top step.

Voila! You 're all set to go, and you have made access into and out of your hot tub so much easier. Getting these steps is a must if you are a little unsteady on your feet, as they 'll give you support and peace of mind.

Spa Vacuum

This is another time-saving way to keep your inflatable hot tub water clean. No matter how hard you try, there's always some debris in your hot tub, such as leaves, sand and dirt.

These settle on the bottom of the hot tub floor and, as well as being unsightly and a little gross, they are uncomfortable under your bare feet.

Floating Thermal Blanket

Keeping the water in your inflatable hot tub as hot as possible is vital if you want to save time, energy and money.

One way to do this is to purchase a floating thermal blanket for your hot tub. This sits on top of the water and maintains your water 's heat at your preferred temperature.

Always keep in mind that heat rises. That means that most of your heat loss is from evaporation off the surface of your hot tub water. Even though your inflatable hot tub will come with a cover, any gap between the underside of the cover and the surface of the water is space where evaporation can take place.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much do inflatable spas cost to run?

Running costs vary based on usage frequency, local climate, and electricity rates, but inflatable hot tubs prove surprisingly economical. The filtration system draws just 50W during operation, while heating (2,050W) and massage jets (800W) only consume power when actively used, allowing you to manage expenses through smart scheduling and proper insulation maintenance.

  • How long does an inflatable hot tub take to heat up?

Expect your spa to heat at approximately 1-2°C per hour, meaning initial setup from cold water typically requires 24-48 hours to reach the maximum 40°C temperature. Once heated, the insulated cover and efficient heating system maintain temperature with minimal energy consumption between uses.

  • Can you use an inflatable spa in winter?

Yes, winter spa sessions offer exceptional relaxation, and models equipped with Freeze Shield™ technology actively protect against cold-weather damage. This intelligent system automatically activates heating when temperatures approach freezing, preventing ice formation that could damage pumps and liners while ensuring year-round enjoyment.

  • What's the difference between Airjets and Hydrojets?

Airjets create thousands of gentle bubbles for soothing, all-over relaxation, perfect for stress relief and mild muscle tension. Hydrojets deliver powerful, targeted water streams for deep tissue massage, ideal for athletic recovery or addressing specific problem areas requiring intensive therapy.

  • How long do inflatable spas last?

With proper maintenance and care, quality inflatable spas featuring Tritech™ or DuraPlus™ construction typically provide 5-7 years of regular use, with many owners reporting even longer lifespans. Regular water treatment, proper storage during extended non-use periods, and prompt attention to minor issues significantly extend operational life.

  • What do I need to put under my inflatable hot tub?

Place a ground mat, foam tiles, or heavy-duty tarp on your chosen level surface to provide additional protection and insulation. This barrier prevents moisture damage to decking, protects the spa base from abrasion, and can improve heating efficiency by reducing ground heat loss.

  • Do you need chemicals for an inflatable hot tub?

Yes, maintaining proper water chemistry is essential for safe, hygienic spa use. Like traditional hot tubs, inflatable spas require regular sanitiser application, pH balancing, and periodic shock treatments to prevent bacterial growth and ensure crystal-clear, healthy water for every soak.

  • How many people can realistically fit in a 4-6 person spa?

While marketed as 4-6 person capacity, these spas most comfortably accommodate 4 adults with ample room for relaxation. The higher number typically refers to maximum capacity with people seated upright, but for optimal comfort during extended soaking sessions, plan for the lower figure.

  • Do all inflatable hot tubs come with a cover?

Quality inflatable spas always include an insulated, lockable cover as standard equipment. This essential component maintains water temperature between uses, prevents debris contamination, ensures child safety through secure locking mechanisms, and significantly reduces heating costs through improved thermal efficiency.
