7kVA Generator

If you are looking to hook up to some serious power from a generator engine, then a 7kVA generator may be the generator you are looking for. If you are looking to hook up to some serious power from a generator engine, then a 7kVA generator may be the generator you are looking for. While a smaller generator is ideal for a campsite or providing power for your caravan, a bigger generator may be better if you need to run multiple appliances or power up your construction site. A 7kVA generator will give you the extra watt capacity to support essentials at home or even run your food truck.

How to choose the right generator?

Choosing the right generator – a 7kVA generator or otherwise – depends very much on what you will use it for and where you will use it.

Start with the location of use; this will probably affect the physical size of the chosen generator. If the generator will be used for camping or as a generator for a caravan or an RV, then it is preferable if that generator is easily portable. This is because it will need to be removed from the vehicle and carried or wheeled to a safe location at some distance from the tent, caravan or RV. A fuel-driven generator needs to be placed at a distance from any residence or place where people are gathered, e.g. a tent. This is due to the fact that any diesel or petrol generator will emit carbon monoxide that can be lethal in high concentrations. Also, any vehicle has limited capacity, so if space is at a premium in your car, RV or caravan, that should be a consideration when choosing the right generator. It needs to be able to fit in with all your other gear – and the fuel to run it. Overall, for these purposes, the right generator may be a model that is smaller in dimension and lighter in weight. However, if you are using the generator as a permanently installed standby generator at home, for example, then the dimensions and weight will probably be less of an issue.

The next step in choosing the right generator is to choose one that has the capacity to handle the load drawn down by the equipment you want to run. A 7kVA generator will have the capacity to provide a reliable power source to operate a decent amount of electric appliances and devices. A 2000w generato generator will obviously have less capacity. To buy the right size in this instance, take a look at the watt rating of all appliances you wish to run on the generator to get an idea of the total consumption. It’s important to look at both the start-up and running watts, as the start-up watt rating will be higher. In addition, the system will need to be powerful enough to boot and run any appliances you wish to be using concurrently. Check if it also has enough outlets as well. Capacity also relates to tank size – if you are using the generator a lot, you won’t want to have to refuel it all the time, so a decent-sized tank should also be part of your consideration.

Noise may also be a factor in choosing the right generator as well. An inverter generator will be more quiet than a conventional fuel-driven generator, for example. If you are going to a campsite, then it is considerate to others not to have a generator that is really loud.

What are the benefits of using a 7kVA generator?

The main benefit of using a 7kVA generator will be lots of power. Depending on the power factor, a 7kVA generator will have an actual power rating of up to 7000 watts which is enough to run quite a number of appliances. It is big enough for commercial use as it has the power to run power tools and other construction equipment. Another commercial use is to power a food truck – 7kVA should be a good size in this case too. If there is one installed at home and there is a power outage, it should be able to supply you with the energy to run important household equipment such as the fridge and lights at the same time. For camping, however, a 7kVA generator might be overkill. While it may seem like a good idea to carry extra power, it is a waste of fuel and may result in carbon build-up in the generator, which would cause a power loss and a loss in capacity.
